2* When I see the sign that points one way

This post's title from "Walk Away Renee" by the Left Banke, one of the most heartbreaking ballads ever. Heartbreaking, I say, because of the story behind it as much as for the lyrics themselves. The song is about the end of a relationship between the lead singer and a woman named Renee. Renee just happened to be his bandmate's girlfriend, on whom he harboured an intense secret crush. I remember reading the story that when she was in the studio, the singer shook violently and could not muster the energy to sing. The rumour is that just as the band was hitting it big with that single, Renee moved away, and nobody saw her again.

I heard that story when I was in Grade 10, very much in a "Walk Away Renee" mood. Now that I look back on it, I get a little chuckle. not out of the misfortunes that led to the breakup of the Left Banke, but out of my own part. It never ceases to surprise me how far I've come.

Speaking, as I did yesterday, of people who are so much better than me, I'd be remiss to write another post without mentioning the recent exploits of Ana Yavari.

Ana recently released her latest video project, a brief, 5-minute scene of dinner between three conflicting personality types, played by Terrilynn Macmillan, Lauren Wing and Kyle Sanderson. Not only does it look great and have terrific sound cues, it's well-acted and punchy enough to make you really laugh out loud at the end. Having seen it, I have absolutely no desire to show anybody the shameful piece of work I've been puttering away with all these months.

I mean, don't worry, I'll show it anyway, but I'm just going to think, "this is ten times as long and one tenth as good to look at." Not that the performances are anything to sneeze at; I'm still proud of each and every one of the actors.

Today was a pretty good day. it began much like the day before, with cereal followed by Chris Ferguson's. I still don't feel like I've done much with my time off, but at least I've gotten out in the world. The usual watching of Family Feud was done (who throws a set of keys, seriously?) as well as a conversation about nipples that went much further in depth than it probably should have. Robyn gets it.

Beside that, a nothing day. Did nothing to contribute to society other than philosophizing about the virtues of male lactation. Didn't even get some of the things done today I wanted to. I'm determined to knock that off tomorrow. I'm going to keep myself quite busy tomorrow, I'm determined.

Nothing left of itnerest to say tonight ladies and gents.

Keep on rockin'
Williams
