D4: I don't wanna go to Spain.
Now, I could've sworn I had a title for this post, but I couldn't remember it, so I lifted that one from a friend's MSN.
The fact that I seem to be getting better as a human being might be the scariest thing of all. Weird? Somehow. It doesn't seem like that should be so bad, but how it managed to creep up on me, if it's true, is a little off-putting. Somewhere along the line, I guess, I became whatever people see me as, and I didn't realize that it seems to work. Not to speak too abstractly. I guess I'm suddenly realizing I'm not the guy who sat at the end of the table and didn't talk all lunch period anymore.
Today was quite an uninteresting day. The fun thing about journalism is how long the cycle takes to start up. There was nothing today except a kind of guilt trip from Roy about how not all the roster positions were filled and certain people had to take on more responsibility. I cheerfully ignored this and finished watching American Graffiti on Haasim's computer. The fun begins tomorrow. and by fun, I mean... work.
The problem, as I see it, is one of technicalities, which always seem to trip me up. I got this fancy new MacBook, which is nice, I guess, but it has no software. What in bloody hell am I supposed to do having a laptop thrust upon me that can go on the internet and... nothing else? So I've got to get my software, before anyone realizes that I can't do the job I've signed up for at the newspaper.
...in the words of GOB Bluth; "I've made a huge mistake."
Things ain't bad though. They'll be better when this job thing gets sorted out. Right now it's looking messy.
But we'll see how it turns out.
Keep on rockin'
-Scotto
