F: Who brainwashed us?
I've got a pretty heavy to-do list these days. That's the thing about getting me in a good mood; it causes my to-do list to pile up, because I'm most active when I'm miserable. Yes, I'm a really screwed-up person.
For what it's worth, my good mood from last night extended into this morning when I picked up a particularly encouraging e-mail regarding a potential intership. The quest for a placement has been a great source of stress for me of late and, well, that should be obvious on this blog. Today I finally got a tug on the line (to use a fishing metaphor) that was very intriguing and had me buzzing all day.
Throughout the entire affair I have to say one thing, and that is that I have gotten a tremendous amount of support from those around me who seem to be aware that this has been difficult for me. It's like the Beatles sang, "I get by with a little help from my friends." I'm not there yet, but as I told Denni, "Being behind schedule doesn't mean I'm off track," to summarize after I very rapidly rattled off a list of reasons why I was not totally fucked, despite missing the late-February target-date.
Woah -- Scott doesn't think he's totally fucked up?
Yeah; I must be in a good mood.
So, probably to the detriment of my review for "Arts for Journalists," which is due tomorrow, I've been devouring Mick Foley's latest autobiography.
On the subject of brainwashing, I note the recent "You disappoint me" anti-marijuana commercials, which by I'm sure no small coincidence, look like they were drawn by someone on dope. Which to me, sends the potential message that if you smoke up, your shitty doodlings will someday become shitty PSAs. This lame stab at cultural/drug commentary was followed by a Taco Bell commercial wherein two lions on the serengeti pontificate on the pronunciation of "con carne," with one suggesting it must be pronounced like you were "Ricardo Montalban." As you might guess, the commercial makes the lions sound like a couple of stoners, and you tell me which is the more effective commercial. I want a taquito.
I should probably get to work on that big review assignment I have due (potentially) tomorrow, thus cutting this pleasant but unremarkable entry short.
Keep on rockin'
-Scott
