110: I told you I'd come back and here I am

I don't know what it is about yesterday that left me feeling like I should've posted. At some point something happened that made me think "This is something I should write about, even though it's not all that interesting," yet I can't put my finger on what exactly that was. I remember the day pretty clearly and yet am not really all that sure what I was thinking about. So now I'll be going through the last two days.

Another Monday morning. Another early day. Another train on the ever-colder Oakville GO platform with my many fellow commuters. I walked in the dreary early morning mist to my Philosophy class where we all geared up for the midterm. It was a relatively breezy if somewhat challenging process. A few multiple choice questions and some short answer stuff. Nothing terribly taxing, but hey, you've gotta know it.

I met up with my TA afterward and he apologized for skipping out on friday. I told him it was okay (although very nice of him to note,) since we got some face time with the professor.

From there, I walked, exhaustedly in the dreary day, to the lectuere on narrative during which I napped somewhat. Given that Prof. Cobb has decided to take next monday off, I don't think I'll be going to school at all next monday. I don't see it being too worthwhile to schlep my way all the way to Toronto for one 9:00 class. I'd be miserable.

I've spent much of the last two days stop-and-starting to write the next poem for my Wednesday seminar. I felt like the damn thing was bubbling under my brain but when I tried to pour it out, it was utter crap. Writing is seldom such a laborious act for me. Usually I just go ahead and do it. And if it doesn't feel natural, in poetry, it shows. I don't want any of that half-high-minded stilted-sounding shit, but I can't deny having written some of it in my day. So I kept scrawling the same few lines, or versions thereof, in my little notebook, and then scribbling them out.

Today was an odd day. I wanted to take the bus to the GO Station, but didn't have change. So I had to go out early, buy something, get change then walk over to the bus stop. It was a schlep.

It was a dull day. We talked Editing, long takes mostly, in Film. We watched a scene from Children of Men; great movie. I had to go find the HA building for my Astronomy midterm. It followed largely the same format as the Philosophy one. I think I did okay, not terrific but good enough for me. Maybe. I seem to have an okay handle on this stuff, y'know... even if I don't study.

I got done with it early enough to be really early for the train. I killed some time at the arcade playing Austin Powers pinball.

Took forever to get home thanks to a train delay and the generally lame bus schedule around here, particularly for the 27. Had dinner, mulled around, and was about to give in to writer's block, when the poem finally hit me. I like it, but it could use some workshopping -- which, of course, is the point.

If you don't know when your birthday is, just pick the horoscope you like best.

Keep on rockin'
-Scotto
