117: For my next trick...
They say that excessive television watching can disassociate a person from reality. If I had to look at my life, I'd say that's an apt hypothesis. Then again this comes from other sources, too. For instance, for various hours on end every day I'm plugged into my iPod and suddenly the world is just a slideshow rushing in front of my eyes. Maybe this is a problem. Maybe I need to start behaving like an active participant in the world around me, not just an observer. Maybe it's time to realize what it means to inhabit the 3-D realm.
Mmmmnah.
It's been a lame weekend. Saturday morning I had been woken up several times that night so I was too iritable to answer the phone when it rang "Unknown name" around 9:30 AM. I went back to bed for about an hour until the phone rang again and was handed to me. I had forgotten I was supposed to hang out with Amanda at Oakville Place, and she was there wondering where I was.
So I went down there and we hung out for a while. Deanna eventually came by and regaled us with horror stories of her new job. After a bit of shopping around, I split, not sure I wanted to be the third guy in their browsing.
The day slipped away and I spent the night trying to stay awake while watching Smoking Aces. I was literally bored to sleep all night long, so much so that when I eventually did go to bed around 1:30, I slept for over 12 hours straight.
So I've only really had half a day today, comprised mostly of a family gathering for my brother's birthday. I've been a little bummed from lack of energy and motivation. I kinda brushed the kids off when they wanted to play. I don't know. Just not feeling that fun, y'know?
But in any case, I didn't have anything pressing to take care of today, although I could probably have managed to get some reading done. I oughtta get my shit in order sometime soon, however.
I was asked to be someplace on Halloween. It might be a bit of a hassle (or a major one) but the word "need" came up, and y'know, how can I say no? It's nice to be needed, and it's also nice to have your drinks comped. I think I can make it work.
I need to reacquaint myself with the reality outside my head. I've been far away so long.
Keep on rockin'
-Scotto
