Chapter 10: I think I'd be good for you and you'd be good for me

I'm anticipating going to bed early tonight, which incidentally might mean this isn't a very long post, but don't count on it. Of course, early for me really just means before 1. I found out today I'm working near Upper Middle & 8th Line tomorrow and have to report for duty at 7:50, which works well since that's about the time the bus goes by there. But anyway it means getting up rather early which means I'm not going to get my favourite amount of sleep (a lot.)

To be honest though, that's been the trend lately; with three people all up before 7 AM it's inevitable that the walking, talking and clanging will all amount to waking poor Scott up far before he's ready. Today I still wasn't ready when the alarm went off (I like to at least be conscious after 9) and the radio was playing "Come Sail Away" by Styx, basically the worst song ever.

Today I found a website dedicated to vitriolic webcomic reviews (not that anyone would click, but they asked nobody link them and I'll respect that.) It was ridiculously scathing, but fairly on-point and observant. It was mostly dedicated to comics that commanded some kind of unwarranted following. It's caused me to reflect a bit on my own work. I'm not a terrific artist (by all conventional standards I'm quite bad,) but I try to let the writing stand up with a sense of irony and sarcasm. Besides, nothing I've done has ever been demonstrably popular, so really, what's to hate? Also, I've always been critical of my older material... usually after a while I can pick out all the jokes I should've changed, or the way I might've drawn something better. It's important to be critical of oneself, and to be open to the opinions of others, as long as all those are taken with a grain of salt.

That'll be all for tonight. I'll try to muster up some awesome stories about painting for tomorrow. Funny enough, it's supposed to rain in the afternoon, so I may not even be working a full day.
