Z: Until you can't see land
As is often the case I was walking around for weeks thinking I had my next post title in my pocket but when the time came to sit down and write I had completely forgotten it. I happened to be listening to the song by Frightened Rabbit just now and I thought, that'll do as well as anything.
It's a bittersweet Friday, the kind of day that has me staring out my window with an afternoon decaf listening to my sad boi playlist. There's plenty to be sad about of course. Fall came on with a crush, cool weather and dim skies and all that, although it's actually been pretty warm. Being at home today is a reminder of how much I don't get to be at home and how blurry and indecipherable my life is because of it, something I cannot and will not get over. Last week I had an anxiety attack because I got to the office and didn't have my glasses. In the end they turned out to be in the car but what a shitty day.
This past weekend, we went back to the trailer to see the aunts and cousins. It was a lot of logistics to try to get everyone up there: I was basically the only person who could drive, and we wanted to bring Hank, so we had to rent a car that could accommodate a hard travel crate. Our original plan had been to rent a minivan so that Hank could sit on his own in the back, but there were no vans available and then the guy at the rental place explained that pets weren't allowed in the seats anyway, so, so much for that. Regardless, it was a nice trip, we had good weather (unlike our weeklong stay, it was in the mid-20's all afternoon, and we left just as the sun was going down and things were getting chilly and I had forgotten to bring a sweater anyway.) It was good to talk to everyone and see the kids before they went. They're really becoming fine young adults. Mel and Mom were both feeling ill by the time we left though.
Later that weekend we were supposed to see Unc and Sherlie but it didn't work out so we went to Nonna's for a BBQ with Mama and Papa H instead. It was nice but Hank is still not a fan of Randy (or my dad either, as he came over to help us with our wayward laptop.)
This week was a busy one as Mel was in the office on Tuesday and Thursday and in between went to dinner in the city, so it was a lot of back and forth. It wasn't so bad, except that on the Thursday it was tough getting out of the house in good time, and then my commute was stymied by TIFF once I got to the city. Alas and alack, such is the life. On my first solo evening I ordered a burger, and on my second I made a chicken strip wrap. There was a funny moment on the way home on Tuesday where Mel picked us a seat that happened to be next to my co-worker Brandon. Then on Thursday in the morning we had to inform this woman who was having an animated video call that she was in the Quiet Zone, which prompted her to leave with a mutter of "Unbelievable." Indeed!
I thought there would be more to say... I've been walking around for days or even weeks thinking yeah, I've got a lot to post about, but nope... it's just life.
Mostly on a train.
I'm wishing I had more time to myself to write, but I sadly know the deal.
Keep on rockin'
