#6: A lyric we can all hum

It's uncertainty, really, that bothers me. Uncertainty is a killer to me, I can never rest easy until I know something one way or another. as a writer I have the delightful habit of mentall envisioning elaborate worst-case scenarios that are nowhere near accurate.

Take for instance the meeting we journey students had to attend today regarding next semester's roster. I was worried and now that it's over it seems absurd. I didn't know what to expect and what ended up happening is that I was put into a group with many of those zany girls in my class (and several people I've never met) to work on the brand new e-zine. I have confidence that this can work. i'm just glad not to have to be working on the newspaper for months now. After the meeting we all went and caught lunch which was a rare event for me since I usually try to escape.

I'm tired, physically. As is sometimes the case after work I woke up this morning sore to high hell. Didn't want to get up and walk. was glad to just hang around for a few hours before class, as usual... I find that I greatly enjoy that time.

So I'm going to be working on this thing for Ana, which makes me hate work more than ever since instead of sitting down on Saturday and writing it I, as you'll recall, will be at work until 2 in the morning. I'd do it Friday night but I'd frankly rather be seeing the Drama kids.

I taped a note to my monitor that reads "QUIT ALREADY." Bad timing, Scott.

What's controversial? I really don't like the idea of going out and trying to find controversy. I have this perspective that everything controversial is so clichéed that it has no effect. Drugs, AIDS, rape, murder... things that have been pinning down literature for years and people are desensitized to. Nothing affects anymore, you can only hope to engage. But she wanted something controversial so I'm going to do my best. Gosh darnit you can count on me.

Things are levelling out. I'm still kinda screwed for friday (don't know if I mentioned that, but my interview subject cut out and I have no story,) but the workload is simmering down, to borrow a forgotten Cheri Oteri catchphrase. I went from totally freaked out into this state of zenlike "it'll all work out" and thus far, it has.

Well I'm sitting in class and I'm basically about to go this is where this entry ends. Thanks again for the gum, that was really special.

Keep on rockin'
-Scott
