W: The old man ain't around

A quick note before I go get lunch, come back, finish the last issue of Sewerman, and eventually graduate: I'm in a good mood.

Strangely, whenever I say it will be quick, it ends up being a rather lengthy philosophical post. And so it may very well be.

After all, last night managed to go off, not without a hitch but rather successfully anyhow. I was stranted in Toronto much longer than I needed to be but I went out to Toronto to watch After Hours with Alyssa. Let me tell you if I am going to schlep my way out to Toronto, it had better be for an excellent film and great company and I would provide nothing but an excellent film, and she was as always great company. As a result, I had a good night and am thus in a good mood today.

And as I already mentioned, tonight is commencement. I don't get it, man. Why did they wait until two months into the new school year to have this ridiculous ceremony? Why did they have to drag us all back from our new lives and remind us of the accomplishments we've already accomplished? On TV, the graduation episode is always the last one, not in the middle of the next season. That's absurd. All the same, this is the perfect time to see the gang again. If only there were some excuse to see everybody again during November, but no, we have to go that entire month slogging through school.

But regardless... I had some really sappy thoughts lined up on the nature of friendship and how it makes you feel "valid" for what you're doing with your life and whatnot, but man does that seem corny in the light of day. So I'm gonna let that one go and instead enjoy my lunch. See you all later.

PS - what is one supposed to wear to commencement? It seems pointless to dress up nice if you're just gonna be forced into a cap and gown. Hrm.
