L: Eliminate and embrace

"I'm going to fail," I told Claire early today before Shakespeare. "I'm not eager to find out how badly I failed." She'd already gotten hers and urged me to get mine. I told her, well okay, but let's not kid ourselves.

Sometimes, you just know you've failed. and when you know it, it's easier to accept. I knew I'd failed before I even handed this bad boy in because I had no direction and no effort to spare on it. It was just a 10% assignment I couldn't be arsed to put my heart into. When I got it back, it was 44/100.

It's important, for self-improvement sake, to know when you've done wrong and how to improve. I didn't even read the remarks. I did the same thing when I performed abysmally on an early Cinema Studies paper last year, just put it away and thought "Okay, let's do better next time."

Other than that it was a good day. I met some new friends - that is to say, I talked to people for the first time, one a girl from Film History I ran into on the subway, ("How about that Eisenstein?") one a dude I knew from philosophy last year and I just realized was in my sci-fi film class. Also in that class, a former recurring character on Degrassi: TNG, but I've not spoken to him. I'd hopefully try to say something interesting and not creepy, like explaining why I know who he is.

I had a test in Sci-Fi; I hadn't studied in any important way for it, but did go over what papers I had prior to class, to refresh myself on certain authors of articles and directors of films. It came in handy. I actually feel like I did really well on that test. In addition to getting most if not all of the short-answer questions, I felt like I really brought it to the essay, where in a mere 300 words or less, I dissected the Cold War readings of The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Go me.

Not much of an interesting day beyond that. Pending approval of my references, I got the HMV job, so I swung by there on my way home to get my paperwork.

I could use more sleep.

Think I'll go for that. Keep on rockin'
-Scott
